Hide & Seek Floors
A Hide & Seek run in Baldi's Basics Plus has five floors: Levels 1 to 3 use the school layout with time limits, and Levels 4 and 5 use Maintenance, Factory or Laboratory floors with more notebooks and a faster Baldi. A floor type never repeats in one run, except the school type.
School Floors and the After-Hours Rule
The first three floors share the school layout with classrooms, a faculty room, the cafeteria, the library, the playground and the principal's office. Each has a time limit, shown on displays in the elevator areas.
| Floor | Layout | Time limit |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | School | 5 minutes |
| Level 2 | School | 7 minutes |
| Level 3 | School | 9 minutes |
| Level 4 | Maintenance, Factory or Laboratory | 7 notebooks |
| Level 5 | Maintenance, Factory or Laboratory | 9 notebooks |
When the timer runs out, hallway lights shut off one by one, Principal of the Thing turns off the lights in rooms with finished activities and you become permanently guilty for being in school after hours. Baldi speeds up gradually rather than instantly. Rooms with unfinished activities keep their power, but bonus questions can no longer be answered in unpowered rooms. Standing on the darkest cells hides you from characters, which makes darkness both the penalty and a hiding tool.
Levels 2 and 3 can also generate structures normally seen later, such as vents. Level 2 always holds a locked room containing the Bus Pass, the ticket to field trips.
Maintenance Floors
Classrooms on a Maintenance floor need power before their activities can be solved. Each classroom connects to a power lever through a colored cable that hums when the lever is on. Flipping a lever reveals its room on the map and shows whether it is powered, and every lever has a power gauge.
Overloading the levers blows a fuse and darkens the whole floor. The breaker, marked by a green light and an alarm, restores power. Elevators go out of order during an outage and return to their previous state when power comes back. A circuit reset button lowers every raised lever at once, which is the fastest fix after losing track of the cables.
- Steam valves toggle leaky pipes whose steam clouds hide you but cut your own visibility.
- The Lightbulb Testing Room switches its lights every ten seconds, creating brief hiding spots.
Factory Floors
A conveyor belt room splits a Factory floor in two. Entering it sends you through a belt maze to other areas, and two belts on opposite sides run in opposite directions; a button reverses them. These belts are the main routes across the floor, so learning which button controls which belt decides how fast you move.
Lockdown doors on Factory floors are worked by levers: up opens, down closes. Roto-halls rotate and spin anyone standing inside, which can turn a familiar hallway toward a different exit.
Laboratory Floors
Laboratory floors are divided into four numbered sections, each with a teleporter room. Teleporters link to each other, open with a button, carry characters as well as the player and cool down for 30 seconds after use. Section posters and map numbers show which pad leads where.
The Wormhole Room at the center opens toward a section once all of that section's notebooks are collected. It pulls in nearby entities and sends them to random locations, with an indicator appearing at the destination a few seconds before arrival. Faculty Only Doors let characters through but block the player, closing only when they detect you and slowly enough that a 'Nana Peel can slide you past.
Check the Pitstop chalkboard before shopping: it names the next floor type, so you can bring a 'Nana Peel for a Laboratory or a Super Stretchy Glove for belt buttons on a Factory floor.
Structures Found Across Floors
Vents connect wall entrances to ceiling exits through winding ducts. Nobody can see you inside, Dr. Reflex cannot hammer you and Mrs. Pomp cannot grab you, but every turn bangs and the exit makes a noise Baldi hears. Swinging doors, lockdown doors, special halls with pillars and locked faculty rooms with shaped locks round out the set. Locked rooms usually hold valuable items and need a matching key or another way in.
Random Events
Each floor rolls a set of random events tied to its seed, with order and timing changing on every attempt. Baldi TV, a small screen that drops from the top left, announces them.
| Event | Effect |
|---|---|
| Flood | Water slows everyone, keeps regular doors open and spawns whirlpools; underwater you cannot be seen |
| Fog | Limits vision for you and every character |
| Gravity Chaos | Flips the school upside down |
| Mystery Room | A door appears leading to a hidden room with a valuable item |
| Party | Held in the principal's office, with a random item to collect |
| Test Procedure | After a countdown, lockdown doors close temporarily |
| Broken Ruler | Baldi breaks his ruler, so his slaps go silent for a while |
| Balder Dash | Rolling balders crush entities, break windows and open locked doors |
| Student Shuffle | Crowds of Students push everyone out of their way, then leave via the elevators |
Items that help on each floor type are listed in the items and YTPs guide.
