Items and YTPs
Items in Baldi's Basics Plus are found on floors, bought at Johnny's Store with YTPs or won on field trips, and the right one at a chokepoint is usually what saves a run. This page covers the main items, every YTP source and the sticker system that changes how a run builds up.
Escape and Movement Items
| Item | Effect |
|---|---|
| BSODA | Sprays a wall that pushes characters away; rarer than its diet version |
| Diet BSODA | Works like BSODA, but the spray lasts only 3 seconds |
| Energy Flavored Zesty Bar | Refills stamina for a long sprint |
| Swinging Door Lock | Locks a swinging door so pursuers must route around it |
| 'Nana Peel | Sends whoever steps on it sliding; slips you through closing Faculty Only Doors |
| Grappling Hook | Pulls you quickly toward the point it hooks |
| Techno Boots | Stop you from being pushed, shown as a timed status effect |
| Invisibility Elixir | Makes you invisible for 30 seconds; characters can still bump into you |
| Super Stretchy Glove | Unlimited reach for 1 minute on any interactive object you can see, even while squished |
BSODA and Diet BSODA are rule breaks when Principal of the Thing sees you drink them. Safety Scissors cut several effects at once, such as jump rope and Beans' gum together, and also cut 1st Prize's wires while he is pushing you.
Sound and Utility Items
- Alarm Clock: rings after 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds (30 by default, set by clicking it once dropped) and draws Baldi to its spot; outside forces can push it.
- WD-NoSquee: creates a quiet zone about five cells wide that lasts five minutes, usable anywhere.
- Dirty Chalk Eraser: releases a cloud that hides every entity inside it, including you.
- Tape: played in the tape player or a payphone, it blocks sound and makes characters that are not chasing you flee.
- Portal Poster: opens a passage through a wall; light and sound pass through it and characters reroute when it creates a shorter path.
- Principal's Keys: unlock a locked door after a short unlock sound.
- Bus Pass: required in your inventory to board the bus for a field trip.
Quarters work in vending machines, coin doors and payphones. Vending machines in the faculty room or cafeteria can roll into other types, including a Zesty machine or, rarely, a crazy vending machine.
How YTPs Are Earned
YTPs are the currency of a run, and the counter rises from the bottom of the screen whenever you earn some.
| Source | Reward |
|---|---|
| Returning a Student's lost item | 100 YTPs, rising with each return in the same round |
| Passing Dr. Reflex's reflex test | YTPs, with harder tests each time |
| Mrs. Pomp's class | Reward based on how quickly you arrive |
| Diamond YTP pickups after a field trip win | 250 YTPs |
| Perfect field trip minigame | 250 YTP bonus |
| Completed activities and pickups | YTPs, with 25, 50 and 100 point pickups on floors |
Spending YTPs at Johnny's Store
Johnny's Store sits in the Pitstop and sometimes inside floors. Items occasionally go on sale at random discounts, and once per game Johnny lets you buy an item while up to 100 YTPs short. A restock button costs 250 YTPs and replaces every item in the available slots. The advanced map is sold per floor and cannot be bought twice for the same floor.
The storage locker keeps up to three items between floors. Contents save when you finish a floor or leave the Pitstop and reset when you lose a life. Opening it on a floor makes you guilty until the door shuts, and closing it makes a loud noise Baldi hears.
Read the Pitstop chalkboard before buying: a Super Stretchy Glove earns its price on Factory floors with belt buttons, while a 'Nana Peel pays off on Laboratory floors full of Faculty Only Doors.
Stickers and the Glue Stick
Sticker packs, including the Fresh Sticker Pack and Bonus Sticker Packs, are sold at Johnny's Store and applied to the back of the You Can Think Pad through the Packet-O-Matic. Eighteen stickers exist, up to four can be active, and copies of the same sticker stack their effects. A sticker normally lasts until you beat the current floor; the Glue Stick upgrades a slot so its sticker lasts the whole run. Replacing an applied sticker destroys the old one.
- Backpack: adds an inventory slot.
- YTP Multiplier: raises YTPs earned by 25 percent.
- Cash Register: forces Johnny's Store to generate inside a floor.
Stickers replaced the old time and grade bonuses, and some of them now pay YTP bonuses at the end of a floor. For where each item matters most, see the floors guide and the Pitstop checklist.
